Allognathotermes

Found in relatively moist savannahs in West Africa. Recorded as a soil feeding with a nest system having 9oval chambers a few centimetres in extent connected by narrow galleries. The galleries are lined with faecal soil with a shagreened appearance. Associated with dead and living mounds of Cubitermes. has also been recorded from soil pits. Group IV feeder. Closely related to Duplidentitermes, which is found only in forests, not savannahs.
