Lepidotermes

Found in Savannah and savannah-forest mosaic to deserts in East, Central and Southern Africa. It is usually found in the mounds and nests of other species, although it does sometimes build small domed mounds of its own, often associated with grass tussocks. It has also been recorded under stones and fallen logs, and under bovid dung. It is a Group IV feeder, although it may feed on extremely rotten wood as well as soil (Uys, 1996?).
