Coptotermes

A common forest-edge and forest-grassland mosaic species, feeding on dead wood. In particular it forms colonies in the middle of living, dying or dead stading trees, feeding on the heartwood. It has a distinctive large, slightly, projecting fontanelle, which make it one of the easiest termite genera to identify.
